This position is part of Novanta's ATI Industrial Automation business unit. ATI is the world's leading developer of robotic end of arm technologies. Summary

The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in the development, implementation and improvement of applicable ISO quality systems and have the ability to drive compliance to ISO standard upgrades. This individual will work across the Apex site with cross functional groups to develop and maintain effective processes. The Quality Systems Manager will implement and drive maintenance of quality system requirements, including document management, audits, CAPA, quality metrics reporting, management review preparation, and training.

In addition, you will work to promote safe, professional work practices and conditions that are in compliance with environmental, health and safety policies and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining quality and safety in accordance with ISO and environmental standards
  • Develop, implement, communicate and maintain a quality plan to bring ATI's Quality Systems and Policies into compliance with quality system requirements.
  • Prepare the Apex facility to align with ISO standards.
  • Generate scorecards and reports for all aspects of plant quality, not limited to and including VOC, CARs, SCARs, COAs, SPC reporting, losses, internal, and third party & customer audits - Oversees internal and external audits relative to ISO standards
  • Lead cross-functional teams to complete projects, address quality issues and implement quality system improvements.
  • Train teams on procedures and quality system requirements.
  • Make crucial decisions in favor of cost-efficiency without compromising on quality using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
  • Participate and lead problem solving activities using tools like 5Whys, Fishbone, & A3.
  • Work closely with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, & R&D teams on NPI projects and FMEA reviews.
  • Establish reliability standards and perform reliability assessments with cross functional teams.
  • Develop and maintain quality information systems, including, but not limited to, Corrective Action, Nonconforming Materials, Training, Document Control, and Customer Complaints.
  • Develop and maintain reports to illustrate the health of the Quality Management Systems.
  • Maintain safe work environments; prioritize occupational safety and environmental protection.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • More than 3 years of experience as a quality manager in a manufacturing / production environment
  • A Bachelor of Engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, or related field.
  • Extensive experience with ISO Quality Systems
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies
  • Strong experience with excel, and an ERP system
  • Knowledgeable in project planning.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and present data.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel as needed; <25%.
