Description

1. Develops and monitors systems for managing and tracking patient information and the documents and forms required for clinical care and billing.

2. Monitors and analyzes data and information to measure utilization, growth, productivity and profitability.

3. Oversees the development of the monthly/ annual case/ visit statistic and ad hoc reports.

4. Develops systems for periodic audits of patient billing to assess accuracy of billing and reimbursement.

5. Assists with the charge master; reviews and upgrades on a regular basis.

6. Assists in the case scheduling process.

7. Collaborates with Purchasing, Materials Management and Biomedical Engineering departments regarding the acquisition, maintenance, repair, and tracking of equipment, instruments, and supplies.

8. Assists and supports the clinical leadership team in budget preparation, monitoring, management, and control.

9. Collects data from OR cases and enters information on the PI log.

10. Generates timely departmental financial reports as requested.

11. Consistently expands business knowledge to provide the most current information on practices and strategies that will most likely increase revenue for the department.

12. Assists in developing and implementing marketing strategies at the direction of the Director.

13. Maintains current and future statistical database regarding clinical program development.

14. Identifies opportunities to increase revenue through correct coding, documentation and compliance.

15. Develops, maintains, and provides ongoing education for preference cards.

16. Runs physician reports and block time reports that include statistics for each physician's block time, as requested.

17. Generates productivity reports for perioperative units. Reports to include total anesthesia and surgery times.

18. Submits statistics to appropriate departments/ designated managers.

19. Handles invoice responsibilities for the department, updates Quick Books as needed; contacts vendors with purchase order or email.

20. Batches OR charges; compares charges with invoice; looks up SINS for pricing; looks up LOM CDM for code. Ensures reports are complete, signed, dated, and filed.

21. Attends hospital and departmental meetings as requested.

22. Functions as a surgical tech for cases as needed and requested.

23. Participates in the surgical call rotation, as outlined in the policy.

Qualifications

Required Education:

Associate's degree is preferred

Training commensurate with Surgical Technologist certification is required

Required Certification:

BLS is required within 30 days of hire

Certified in Surgical Technology in required

Certified Surgical First Assistant is preferred

Schedule Full-time
Work Schedule Day shift, 7-10 hr/shift, rotate weekends
