Candidates must have earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership or a closely related field from an accredited university. Preferred candidates will have demonstrated research and teaching experience in Educational Leadership. At least three years teaching experience and at least three years of experience in school or district leadership. Faculty must be eligible for and maintain North Carolina Teaching Licensure in School Administration. Candidates will be expected to collaborate with local schools, teachers, students and community members to support education across southeastern North Carolina.

Primary Purpose of Organization Unit
The primary purpose of the Department of Educational Leadership & Specialties in the School of Education is to serve students who seek an undergraduate or graduate degree through approved educator preparation programs.
Primary Purpose of Position
This is a tenure-track position with the primary purpose of teaching master-level school administration/educational leadership courses, as well as engaging in service and scholarship aligned with the profession and mission of the School of Education.
Job Description
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in educational leadership. The course load is three graduate level courses each semester. The candidate will be expected to integrate evidence-based practices aligned with the current state and national standards to create teaching and learning opportunities that:

  • Support the development of aspiring leaders in all building and district level operations.
  • Build student capacity to work with schools and districts who serve culturally and linguistically diverse communities, by demonstrating a commitment to understanding and addressing issues of equity and diversity in education.
  • Foster the development of the professional dispositions of school leaders.

Additional responsibilities include leadership opportunities, service in School of Education and University committees, maintaining scholarly productivity, advising and mentoring students seeking licensure, supervising internships, working with the community and school partners, and providing service to the university and profession.
