As a core member of the Human Resources (HR) Services, you will deliver HR service assistance to the HR community, business managers and employees. You will process complex and escalated HR requests related to multiple service lines for an assigned group of employees. In this role you will be fully accountable and responsible for the teams and end-to-end processes associated with Payroll, Employee Life Cycle Management, Compliance and HR Integration, delivering high-quality service and support to the business and our customers in the US and Puerto Rico. This position will need to be able to work in-person in our Cary, NC office amongst the other leadership positions for the HR Operations team.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end HR Operations processes including managing vendor delivered services
  • Design, develop and implement documented processes, procedures, methods, standards and controls to improve the efficiency, and quality of HR Operations
  • Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations and internal HR policies
  • Works closely within HR Operations and across other HR function to implement lean approaches to deliver efficiencies through process improvements, standardization and/or automation
  • Define and implement metrics to measure and monitor effectiveness and compliance of areas of responsibility
  • Ensures all Operations HR processes incorporate appropriate control mechanism, including 4-eye-check/SOX checks, data protection and country legal/regulatory compliance tasks and adherence to AskHR Way of working
  • Accountable to support and implement global initiatives like acquisitions, divestments, new policies, HR Transformation, etc
  • Drives the enhancement of the customer experience journey, analyses received customer feedback and drives actions accordingly
  • Builds and maintains sustainable relationships with key stakeholders across HR, the business and other stakeholders
  • Understand, embrace and promote the ABB Way, our global business model
  • Coach and guide team members on complex queries to help develop their process knowledge
  • Leverage daily, weekly and monthly team huddles to ensure key projects and day to day responsibilities meet critical due dates and deadlines
  • Clarify responsibilities and ensure strong bench strength and backup availability through individual and team cross-training and skill development
  • Provide feedback/conduct annual performance and salary reviews
  • Ensures integrity and compliance with ABB values and ethics in all activities across all teams and areas of responsibility
  • Meet financial and cost management targets to ensure alignment with the approved annual budget
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred) and 15 plus years of experience in HR or Shared Services Operations (insourced or outsourced)
  • Experience leading, managing and developing large teams of diverse priorities, projects, employees and cross functional teams
  • Process development and process/continuous improvement experience
  • Strong partnership, collaboration and change management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and presentation skills)
  • Highly collaborative, approachable and caring, with the ability to build relations across various teams, countries and cultures and hold others accountable
  • Strong customer service and business mindset
  • Strong analytical approach to problem solving, high degree of proactive behavior and result orientation
  • Knowledge of various HR practices, laws, policies and procedures
  • Experience with a Human Resources Information System
  • Experience managing HR and system related vendors
  • SHRM certification
  • Workday and/or SAP experience
  • Experience in large global business environment supporting 10,000+ employees
  • Lean Sigma / Six Sigma quality and process improvement experiences
  • High degree of organization and structure, detail and deadline focused
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
