About the job

The Cloud & Information Services (CIS) division of SAS consists of over 1,000 employees responsible for all corporate IT services as well as operating SAS Managed Cloud. CIS is a customer-centric organization dedicated to designing, building and operating world class technical solutions for our internal and external customers. CIS is comprised of departments focused on Enterprise Technologies, Employee Technologies, IaaS, SAS Managed Cloud, Security and Business Operations. These global services are executed locally through the oversight and leadership of Regional Leaders in EMEA and APAC as well as our Pune, India Shared Services Leader. CIS influences SAS's strategic direction and aligns investments in technology and initiative prioritization with our overall corporate strategic direction.

The Vice President, SAS Managed Cloud will report to the Chief Information Officer and lead a global team of professionals worldwide. The role of Vice President, SAS Managed Cloud will be the global service owner for how SAS delivers its manage services portfolio. The managed services portfolio includes hosted managed services as well as remote managed services. The portfolio consists of > 600 customers worldwide and contributes to SAS's annual revenue.

As the global service owner, the Vice President, SAS Managed Cloud will be responsible for our managed services strategic business plan, the product/service offering, service delivery, ongoing lifecycle management, SLA achievement, customer escalations, P&L and much more.

We are searching for a leader with a unique blend of leadership and technical expertise in Cloud technologies as well as business acumen and P&L experience. The ability to build strategic plans, execute on those plans and build trusted business partnerships is critical to the success of the role and will enable continued growth in SAS Managed Cloud revenues.

As a VP, Cloud you will:

    Develop the long-term strategic direction, business goals/objectives and execution plan for SAS Managed Cloud.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud architecture, platforms, and services across multiple cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google)
  • Continuously review and improve our service delivery methodology including cost containment as well as service expansion.
  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of SAS Managed Cloud service including sales productivity, delivery velocity, ongoing lifecycle management and continuous security/audit/compliance.
  • Partner with Sales Leadership to build programs and a sales engagement model to drive customer adoption.
  • Partner with Product and Professional Services Leadership to drive cloud migration initiatives (legacy on-prem install base), including assessing current on-premises systems, developing migration plans, and overseeing execution to ensure minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
  • Partner with Security and Legal to establish and maintain cloud governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance, security, and cost optimization.
  • Lead a high-performing cloud services team, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to drive innovation and continuous improvement. Talent development and acquisition is critical to long term success.
  • Monitor cloud services performance, capacity, and cost metrics and implement strategies to optimize resource utilization and control costs.
  • Handle external customer escalations by working directly with customers and internal partners as needed to resolve problems.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with business partners and sales leaders across the organization to instill confidence in cloud service delivery and execution.
  • Relentless communicate to business partners and C-Suite about operational performance and critical customer escalations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies, trends, and best practices, and make recommendations for adoption where appropriate.
  • Speak publicly at industry events and corporate shows about SAS Managed Cloud

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in leadership role in information technology and a proven track record of leadership in cloud or managed services.
  • Deep technical expertise in cloud computing platforms, services and solutions, with hands-on experience in at least one major cloud provider
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies and their application in enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of cloud FinOps and the challenges businesses face when moving to the cloud.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and governance principles with experience implementing security best practices in a cloud environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, aligning technology initiatives with business goals and objectives.
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to think critically, analyze data, and make data driven decisions to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Exceptional communication and consulting skills required to navigate challenging customer situations and gain support internally for strategic initiatives
